HOW WE GOT HERE
A local team built for heavy-duty work
J&A was founded by John Griffin — and he came up the hard way. Years turning wrenches as a diesel tech, then years managing commercial fleets. Somewhere in there he got tired of watching shops sell labor instead of fixing trucks. So he built one that does it the other way around.
That background matters. John has sat in the fleet manager’s chair, not just under the hood. He knows what a truck down for an extra day actually costs you. These days he’s as much a fleet consultant as a repair expert — reviewing estimates, building preventive-maintenance programs, and telling customers when a repair isn’t worth doing. The goal never changes: save you money over the long haul, not run up a bill.

J&A Fleet is a full-service fleet maintenance and repair company serving Northeastern Illinois. No matter what problem you’re having with your diesel or semi truck, we have the tools, expertise, and discernment to fix it. We also offer affordable maintenance plans that prevent costly problems from ever occurring and make the insurance claims process easier if a member of your staff runs into trouble on the road. Most companies that work with us do just fine with our $800/month Two-Truck Maintenance Agreement. This bargain service is great because it includes:
- All Parts and Labor (excluding overhauls and electronics)
- Less Overall Downtime
- Preventive Maintenance
- Full Monthly Inspection
We’ll also offer mobile fleet repair services and will take care of roadside repairs within a 75-mile radius. J&A Fleet is here to help even during winter storms and inclement weather! If you bring a diesel or semi truck into the shop, we’ll even drop it off for you once the repairs are done.

John & Alex Griffin
This fleet maintenance and repair duo moved to the area with a dream of helping businesses operate more efficiently with well-maintained fleet vehicles and top-notch repairs. They have achieved that and more, ultimately lowering payroll expenses and making the companies they serve run more smoothly. Alex and John have dedicated their lives to protecting businesses’ investments by keeping their vehicles on the road longer.
Both John and Alex have years of experience in the vehicle repair industry and shared a dream of raising their children in a place where they could play in the front yard without a care in the world. This led them to the Wilmington area, where they’re now raising their children and helping businesses run better.

Our team includes experienced repair, hazmat, and certified technicians with the training needed to handle complex fleet service needs. We are Cargo Tank, Hazmat, and HAZWOPER certified, and properly insured to manage fleet repair jobs on land or in the water.
Meet Jax
Meet Jaxson (Jax). He is commonly found in the shop, going over the cleanliness of the trucks and making sure the trucks are clean and ready for the next job. He’s also the most fashionable around the office, but don’t let that kid fool you. He definitely is the boss around the shop, but his favorite words are “You’re Fired,” just like on the TV show ‘The Apprentice.’ Even though he’s very bossy, he is definitely the one who keeps the team laughing!
Meet Robert
Robert specializes in gasoline vehicles. This includes, but is not limited to, on road gasoline equipment, off road gasoline equipment, 2 and 4 stroke marine engines, and small engines. You can often find Robert on the water repairing marine engines or riding his ATV down a old dusty trail.
Robert is one of our senior drivers. He has been here since day one and his knowledge has transformed the business to service landscapers, tree care professionals, and homeowners with repairs.

John and Alex also use J&A Fleet’s platform to inform and educate locals about important issues and give back to the community whenever they can. If you live in the area, you’ll likely see Alex driving to jobs in Chicagoland in her pink Breast Cancer Awareness truck and participating in parades and fundraisers. The truck’s hood is also adorned with ribbons to represent all types of cancer to show support for cancer survivors and those who are still fighting.
J&A Fleet also tries to bring attention to other important causes by wrapping their trucks. The team recently added a suicide awareness design to the fleet that broadcasts the suicide hotline number since there have been a lot of deaths in the area recently. This is also a special tribute to veterans and active service members struggling with mental illness.
J&A Fleet will also be releasing an Autism Awareness truck and a Cub Scout truck soon. It’s J&A Fleet’s mission not only to do good work but use whatever resources we have to do good in the community. That’s why you’ll continue to see more of our wrapped trucks on the roads and at marches in the area.
