Semi-Truck Electrical and Alternator Repair
No-starts, dead batteries, charging problems. Heavy-duty truck electrical and alternator repair across the corridor — diagnosed right, priced straight.
Electrical problems are where guessing gets expensive fast. A no-start could be a battery, an alternator, a ground, a relay, or a chafed wire buried in a harness — and a shop that throws a new alternator at it without checking only fixes the problem by luck. J&A Fleet traces heavy-duty electrical faults to the actual source, so you pay to fix what’s wrong, not to find out what isn’t.
WHAT WE DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR
- No-starts and intermittent starting
- Dead and weak batteries, parasitic draws
- Alternator and charging-system failures
- Starters and solenoids
- Bad grounds and corroded connections
- Wiring, harnesses, and chafed or shorted circuits
- Lighting — headlights, markers, trailer, and wiring faults
- Gauges, sensors, and electrical warning lights
WHY ROOT-CAUSE MATTERS HERE
Electrical gremlins are the easiest thing in the shop to misdiagnose and the easiest to overcharge for. A dead battery every morning isn’t always a battery — it’s often a parasitic draw or a failing alternator slowly starving the system. We test the whole circuit, find what’s actually pulling you down, and fix that. No replacing good parts to chase a problem that’s still there afterward.
DONE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME
Proper diagnosis, quality parts, clean connections, and a check that the charging system holds before the truck leaves. Electrical issues that come back are usually electrical issues that were never really found — so we find them.
PRICING YOU CAN SEE COMING
You’ll hear our hourly rate, our minimum, and any surcharges up front. Mobile road service is billed port-to-port, and the price only changes if the job changes. You’ll never get charged extra for being stuck.
MOBILE OR IN THE SHOP
Most electrical and alternator work can be handled on site — we’ll come to you, on the roadside or in your yard. For anything that needs the bay, we don’t run recovery vehicles, but we work with a network of recovery partners and get the best rates to bring it in.
WHERE WE WORK
Electrical and alternator repair across Morris, Aurora, Joliet, New Lenox, Rockdale, Gardner, and the surrounding I-80 / I-55 corridor.
WHY J&A Fleet Maintenance
Honest diagnosis, certified techs trained on big rigs, fair upfront pricing, and a family-owned local crew that won’t sell you a part you don’t need. Founded by a diesel tech turned fleet manager who built J&A to do right by drivers and fleets.
A FEW QUICK ANSWERS
My truck dies overnight — battery or alternator?
Could be either, or a draw somewhere in between. We test the whole system so you fix the real cause, not a guess.
Can you come to me?
Yes — most electrical work is done on site.
Will you tell me if a part is still good?
Always. You only pay for what’s actually needed.
